India prepares to welcome Formula One “The global sporting extravaganza” The Indian Grand Prix is scheduled to be the 18th race of the FIA Formula One World Championship racing calendar in 2011, and will take place at the Jaypee Group Circuit on October 30th, 2011 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh (subject to approval of the circuit).
| Built at an approximate cost of US$ 315 million, the track has being designed by the famous F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The track will have a length of 5.14 km and an area of 875 acres. This track in all has 16 largely medium speed corners where F1 cars will lap at an average speed of 210 kph. The back straight will let F1 cars reach 320 kmph making it one of the fastest tracks in the world and expected F1 car lap time is 1 minute 17 seconds. Once ready, it will be amongst top five circuits in the world. |

The Indian Grand Prix will be part of what will be an historical season in Formula One and will provide an opportunity to boost India's influence in the motor sport sphere. |
| The season was due to open in Bahrain on Mar 13th, 2011 but this has now been postponed due to the sensitive political situation in the region, so the first race will now be held in Melbourne on the 27th March and the final race will be hosted in Brazil on Nov 27th, 2011. | |
