Wild and pristine, St. Vincent is a lush tropical island and much of the heartland is still covered with tropical forest reaching right up to the summits of the island’s many volcanoes.

Small wonder then that Hollywood’s film-makers chose one of St. Vincent’s hidden bays as the main film location of “Pirates of the Caribbean”. |
|
| The scenery of “Port Royal” can be admired in Walilabou Bay, just as Johnny Depp left it. St. Vincent is also home to the Garifuna people. The origins of this mysterious tribe are obscure. A ship carrying slaves from Africa is said to have shipwrecked on the island’s reefs, and the survivors to have mixed with the native Carib Indians. Even today they keep up their traditions, and mainly live of fishing along the coastline. | ![]() |
