Divorce at the heartbreak hotel
With many hotels and destinations around the world actively promoting weddings and honeymoon services, it was only a matter of time before divorce was added to the short break agenda. One enterprising operator based in the Netherlands is offering a full quickie-divorce service for couples who do not want the stress of a long winded acrimonious separation.
The company called Divorce Hotel (certainly a does-what-it-says-on-the-can sort of name) was started by Dutch entrepreneur Jim Halfens, and whilst the lack of subtlety may be off putting for some, there is no doubt that the novelty will attract an adventurous clientele.
Mr Halfens uses high-end hotels around the Netherlands, putting up the couple in separate rooms and providing mediators and legal advice for a set fee.
The company assesses couples when they apply for the service, to make sure they are suitable and that they are not caught up in an acrimonious dispute and ensures the well-being of both parties during the stay.
The sales manager of Divorce Hotel, Ninke Bons told Sky News: 'We treat them as any other guests, we just try to keep a closer eye on them or make sure they are not wandering around by themselves.
